Sadly, I ordered this book even after reading the review that recommended not buying it. This edition is a "translation" by Marco Pedulla and it does not even cover the entire original book. The original/ real book by Patrick Matthew is available free online, but I ordered this edition because I prefer reading a real book and was tempted by the low price. The original book is over 400 pages, is written in English and has lots of diagrams. This edition has no page numbers but is roughly 150 pages long. It has no diagrams and no table of contents. I compared a few passages to the original online and it is close but has slight differences as if the text had been translated into another language and then translated back into English, using very awkward phrasing, obviously by someone who did not know the original was in English! And then, two thirds into this book, in the middle of a page, it switches to German and the rest of the book is in German. Strangest book I have ever seen and absolutely useless! Buy the original version or read it online, don't waste your money on this edition!Product details

On Naval Timber and Arboriculture Patrick Matthew 9781295727605 Books Reviews
This is an imprint of the book, first published by major Edinburgh and London publishers in 1831, which new hi-tech research methods allowed me to discover was - contrary to Darwinian mythmongery - read and cited by at least 7 naturalists many years before Darwin replicated its original hypothesis. Three of those natural scientists, who read and cited it, were in Charles Darwin's inner-circle of friends and scientific associates. And one (Selby) both edited and published Alfred Russel Wallace's (1855) Sarawak paper on organic evolution that he used used to pretend that he independently discovered natural selection. The co-publisher and editor of that paper (Jardine) also held a copy of this book in his hands. And he had hold of it for more than an appreciable moment, because it was he who purchased it for Selby in Scotland and delivered it to his home in Northumbria.
Contrary to a myth that began with a highly positive review of this book in 1832 by the naturalist Loudon, and latched onto by Darwin and his cronies, Patrick Matthew's unique discovery of natural selection is not at all limited solely to the Appendix of this book. The idea is woven throughout its main body. The very name he gave it "natural process of selection" is in the main body of this book. Most Darwinists have never read it. Get your own copy - and read it. Primary sources are what real scholars use. Pseudo-scholars merely replicate the published words of others and often times they just make stuff up to fill their massive knowledge gaps. Others get the history of science wrong in order protect their own self interests. Contrary to the mythmongery started by Darwin and continued to this day by the likes of Richard Dawkins, naval timber and arboriculture was not at all an obscure or non-scientific subject in the early to mid 19th century. Both topics were right at the forefront of interest in the field of economic botany. A book with this title was the perfect place for Matthew to disseminate his great discovery! The reason so few naturalists cited or discussed the ideas in this book is because of its heresy.
Patrick Matthew actually handed God his redundancy papers in 1831, which is something that Darwin dared not do 29 years later in the Origin of Species - even after Robert Chamber's had followed in Matthew's footsteps and cleared the way by publishing his own popular heresy on organic evolution in his best selling 'The Vestiges of Creation'.
The 19th century rules of the Royal Society and the British Association for the Advancement of Science were that 'gentlemen of science' were not to discuss issues of natural theology, politics or news. Matthew mentions all three in this book. Accordingly he was - for the most part - given the 'silent treatment'in the literature. Matthew even explained that to Darwin in the press in 1860, a fact that was studiously ignored by self-serving Darwinists then and continues to ignored by them today.
Patrick Matthew is the greatest deductive thinker the World has ever known. Don't just take my word for that. This book allows you to see the mind of a genius discoverer and immortal great thinker of science at work. It allows you to see that it was the difference between crab apple and cultivated apple varieties that was the genuine Eureka Moment for the greatest discovery in science. Darwin and Wallace had no genuine Eureka moments. Wallace even went so far as claim that he got his whilst suffering from malaria, which is palpable nonsense. Humans can't process complex ideas when they have a mild dose of the flu - never mind malaria.
Darwin and Wallace both claimed no prior knowledge of naval Timber and Arboriculture - moreover Darwin claimed its ideas had gone unnoticed until 1860 - when Matthew brought them to Darwin's attention in the press - to claim his priority.
Scientist for 154 years simply believed Darwin's and Wallace's excuse that they had not read Matthew's work. For Darwinists, such credulous belief was necessary, because 28 years before Darwin and Wallace each replicated Matthew's ideas, this very book contained the full hypothesis for natural section, which Matthew (1831) uniquely named 'the natural process of selection.'
The existence of any number of natural scientists who read this book, whether connected socially to Darwin or not, refutes his excuse for being unaware of Matthew's hypothesis within it. Moreover, the size of that number, connected socially to him, exponentially incriminates Darwin as a liar for saying that neither he nor any other naturalist known to him was aware of Matthew's ideas.
Forget Darwinism (its now a euphemism for science fraud) because both Darwin and Wallace are today proven to have committed science fraud based by way of their theft of the name and concept from this book, and by way of their lies about never having read it. Darwinism is in reality - Matthewism.
Darwin and Wallace committed the World's greatest science fraud by plagiarizing Matthew's unique discovery, his name for it, his unique examples of how it operates in nature and they even stole his creative explanations of the similarities and difference between natural and artificial selection.
On the downside, as this book reveals, Matthew was as dreadful as Darwin when it came to citing his influences. But what makes this book stand head and shoulders above all others is that it does contain the fist published account of the solution to to the problem of species.
You might find this book hard to follow at first, but like Shakespeare the language style soon becomes familiar and easy to comprehend. The power of Matthew to occupy your mind with logical thinking and beautiful analogy is similarly rewarding.
You can view this book for free on Google books. Capturing the information and printing it off is going to take you so much time, however. For the price of an inexpensive round of drinks I recommend you buy a re-print from , and by so doing, make you own original contribution to the rising star of Matthewism that will at some point surpass the mighty Darwin science-swindler industry.

I bought this book to see what Patrick Matthew had to say about natural selection and how it compared with Darwin's ideas, but did not read the whole book.
This item should not be sold by . The translation is very poor and the second half of the book is in German. There are several pages with only a few lines of text and most of the page is blank.
The book lacks much of the original by Patrick Matthew. I cannot believe that is selling such a shoddy product.
